Tinctures as Soul-utions

An herbal tincture for those of you unfamiliar to the herbal world is a liquid extraction of the medicinal parts of a plant created by covering herbs in alcohol, apple cider vinegar or vegetable glycerin, straining and ingesting orally. Usually tinctures sit anywhere between 2-6 weeks before they are ready. For this reason, they are considered more potent than teas and herbal pills.

Why do we take tinctures? Usually we are experiencing a discomfort in our physical selves that we would like to fix so we go about collecting roots, barks, flowers and herbs to blend together to give us relief. How fascinating, the solution (tincture) we create is the solution! That is why I stress the importance of making your own medicine!

Herbs tell stories; they give us new perspectives. One of the magical aspects of medicine making is that you will find that herbs and flowers represent some part of your psyche that needs healing and it is connected to your physical self. If you can identify what your body is telling you, you are well on your way to healing. Awareness. This is the step that is lost in traditional western medicine. We are given something and we don't even think about it, we just take it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but either way we are still in the dark about our soulutions. Take the time, whatever time you have, to ask yourself what is your body telling you and make yourself a tincture..a SOULUTION!
